How does chemotherapy destroy thyroid cancer?

Chemotherapy medications act to disrupt the growth and division of cancer cells. Different types of medications act in different ways to disrupt basic mechanisms of cellular growth and development. Combinations of medications are often given in specific sequences in order to increase their overall effectiveness in treating different forms of cancer. Most of these medications are toxic in that they also act to disrupt the functioning of normal cells in parts of the body. A great deal of attention is focused on limiting and treating side effects associated with the administration of chemotherapy.
