What information does an X-ray provide?

Standard X-rays may be used to perform limited anatomic imaging in the evaluation of recurrent thyroid cancer. If any suspicion exists that thyroid cancer may have metastasized to a specific bone, X-rays may be used to perform survey anatomic imaging of that region of the body. On standard X-ray films, bone metastases may appear as punched out dark areas within the normal bright outlines of the bones.
