Who administers external beam radiation?

External beam radiation is administered by specially trained physicians called radiation oncologists. These specialists evaluate patients, calculate the doses needed for treatment, and plan and direct the administration of treatments in special facilities set up to generate and deliver high-energy rays from radioactive sources.
