Who administers radioactive iodine?

Radioactive iodine is administered by physicians who have undergone specialized training in the use and administration of radioactive isotopes. Depending on the circumstances, 131-Iodine may be administered by radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine specialists, or endocrinologists who have undergone specific training and are licensed to treat patients with radioactive iodine.
